at Villanders/Villandro

Prehistoric Settlements, Mines, and Religious Culture
Villanders/Villandro is rich in sightseeing destinations of cultural interest:

The churches St. Moritz, St. Valentine, and St. Anna, die chapels, and the Pardell Castle and the Gravetsch Castle, the "Am Toten" look-out point on the high-altitude meadow, the ruins of the walled fortresses with their signs of prehistoric habitations, the menhirs.

In the town square, you'll find interesting excavations with evidence of human settlements dating back to the Neolithic Era, the Roman period, and the Early Middle Ages.

And finally, there are the mines – the earliest documentary evidence of which dates back to 1142, which were in operation until 1943, and which contributed greatly to the importance of Villanders / Villandro.

Our art-themed and cultural hikes will show you the most-interesting aspects of our multi-facetted region.
