When the first lanterns light up in Klausen and the scent of mulled wine and freshly baked treats drifts through the narrow streets, a truly special time begins. The historic old town transforms into a charming Christmas market, captivating visitors with its authentic character, lovingly arranged decorations and living traditions.

Between historic townhouses, winding alleyways and centuries-old cellars, Christmas Village Klausen invites you to experience Advent at a more relaxed pace. Here, it's not about hustle and bustle, but about traditional craftsmanship, regional specialities and the joy of life's little moments.

In the medieval town of Klausen, the rush of the season fades away – replaced by candlelight and the scent of Christmas.

A Christmas Market with a Character of Its Own

Deep green fir trees, natural decorations and countless lanterns bring festive charm to the historic alleyways of Klausen. In lovingly decorated wooden stalls and centuries-old cellars, artisans, craftspeople and local producers showcase their handmade creations and regional products.

From hand-carved wooden figures and ceramics to jewellery, natural products and unique gift ideas, there's plenty to discover. Freshly made Krapfen (traditional pastries), apple fritters, roasted almonds, Kaiserschmarrn (shredded sweet pancakes) and other South Tyrolean specialities tempt visitors along the way. And of course, a steaming cup of mulled wine or hot spiced apple punch is part of the experience.

Accompanied by the sounds of Christmas music, a stroll through Klausen's historic old town becomes a truly special Advent experience.

Special Moments to Remember

Christmas Village Klausen is not only known for its lovingly decorated stalls, but also for its varied programme of events and activities for visitors of all ages.

One of the highlights is the traditional Search for Shelter with a Living Nativity Scene, where Mary and Joseph make their way through the historic alleyways, bringing the Christmas story to life. Every Sunday, the night watchman also makes his rounds, lighting candles and bringing a touch of times gone by to the old town.

On 28 November, things get especially sweet: South Tyrol's Longest Chocolate Skewer promises a truly unique experience. Starting at Tinneplatz, the giant chocolate skewer stretches into one of the historic alleyways, combining a delicious treat with a good cause. The event brings people together in the spirit of generosity, raising donations for the charity “Südtirol hilft”.

On 20 December, Traveller and the Sauce will put on an impressive fire show, bringing a spectacular highlight to the historic old town.

Christmas music, live demonstrations of traditional craftsmanship and a lovingly designed children's programme with arts, crafts and baking workshops complete the Advent experience.

The night watchman passes through the old town and lights hundreds of candles that create a glowing path that winds through the alleys every Sunday at 3:30 pm.
