Guest artist

Albin Portner

Albin Portner carves classical figures in wood, bronze, and marble. His sculptures describe being human not as a fixed state, but as a movement: a rising, a meeting, a continual becoming. For him, the other, is always a counterpart who radiates emotion – and it is this emotional resonance that he carries into his figures.

“The other is my counterpart – I feel what they radiate.”
About the artist
Albin Portner
Albin Portner, born in Villnöß in 1963, lives and works as a sculptor in his home valley. He works classically in wood, bronze and marble.
His sculptures – such as Die Aufgerichtete, Die Liebenden, Die Entstehung and Die Begegnung – portray the human being not as a state but as movement: a rising, a meeting, a continual becoming.
What inspired me to explore the theme of “being human”
What inspires me about being human is to be in relationship with other people – to grow together with them, to develop and to learn from one another.
For me, the other person is my counterpart: they radiate feelings, thoughts and moods, which I feel and receive.
