Guest artist

Ariel Trettel

a feather in the wind – Ariel Trettel’s contribution is a composition for voice and piano, experienced through headphones. The sculptor and musician describes being human as a natural process, a journey through opposites: listening, letting things be, growing, and finding balance. Taking away and adding – as in sculpture.

“Being human means being a sculptor of life and of the world.”
About the artist
Ariel Trettel
Ariel Trettel, born in Völs am Schlern in 1992, lives and works there as a sculptor and musician. He founded his first band at the age of twelve and later co-founded the Shanti Powa Orchestra and Color Colectif. Alongside music, his passion for sculpture grew: from 2017 to 2020 he attended the specialisation course in wood sculpture at the Cademia in St. Ulrich, followed by the master class at the stone-sculpture school in Laas.
Trettel works mainly in marble, sandstone and wood, interweaving his sculptural practice with music; in 2024 he released his first solo album, Was bleibt.
What inspired me to explore the theme of “being human”
Being human is our natural activity. Being human is experiencing the essential. Being human is a journey of discovering oneself, between dualisms and the subtle dynamics of the everyday.
Being human means an immediate, active contribution to the whole. Cultivating a connection to the whole and developing a sense for two. Creating life.
Being human means recognising, listening, allowing, letting be, watching, reflecting, letting flow, growing, learning to stay, destroying, creating balance.
Developing a feeling for space.
Perceiving, recognising, allowing and experiencing the essential.
Being human means sustaining biodiversity.
Being human means being a sculptor of life and of the world.
Taking away and adding.
