Guest artist

Lissy Pernthaler

Lissy Pernthaler’s Empathic Traces presents journals suspended on a wall – some words legible, some painted over in white. Visitors are invited to write their own. For her, vulnerability is not a weakness but a form of courage. Being human means feeling, reflecting, encountering oneself and others with compassion.
“Those who feel, connect. Those who reflect, transform.”
About the artist
Lissy Pernthaler
Lissy Pernthaler, born in Bozen in 1983, grew up in Kaltern am See. She is an actress, author and performance artist. She writes poetry, prose, plays and screenplays, and has received numerous literary awards.
In search of a new form in which to present her poems alongside a classical reading, Lissy began creating performances in 2007. Increasingly, the focus shifted from the character of a stage performance towards performative spaces of action, in which audience members actively immerse themselves in experiencing a process. With her performance label blütenwerfer performances she creates experiential images of the soul.
She trained as an actress in Berlin and studied European Media Studies in Potsdam. She is a teacher of meditation, yoga and the unfolding of consciousness.
What inspired me to explore the theme of “being human”
I was inspired by the many voices of being human – what we show, and what we keep to ourselves. For me, being human means living in this tension: between inner and outer, between vulnerability and expression.
What defines us is the ability to shape our empathy consciously – for one another, but also for ourselves. Vulnerability here is not a weakness but an act of courage. With Empathic Traces I want to open spaces in which people find their own words, open themselves to feeling – and decide for themselves what of it may enter the world, to touch others in their being human.
