Main artist

Bernhard Reiterer

Six colour panels arranged in a dancing circle, illuminated through fibre-optic cables, activated by motion sensors embedded in the floor. Whoever steps in and moves – or starts to dance – makes them glow; the more movement, the more intense the light becomes. At the end of the room a large painting of two people, into which the points of light are projected. Bernhard Reiterer’s walk-in installation The Inner Glow at the former Grauer Bär inn makes visible what usually stays hidden: the vitality we radiate when we allow ourselves to vibrate. He picks up the faint light signals every living being emits – biophotons – and translates them into colour. “We so often move through life in shades of grey,” he says. “We lack colour.” A master painter from Merano, trained in trompe-l’œil and in human-ecological colour consultancy, he calls this peace work: speaking with one another, not about one another.

About the artist and his work
Biography

Bernhard Reiterer | *1969 a Meran / Merano, vive a Jenesien / San Genesio

Bernhard Reiterer is a master craftsman painter. He began his apprenticeship at fourteen and set up on his own at twenty-three. He has mastered illusionistic painting – trompe-l'œil, large-scale mural worlds that deceive the eye – through the painter's trade;he devoted himself to independent artistic painting only later, at the Leonardo Kunstakademie in Mattsee Castle near Salzburg, followed by a master class with Prof. Hannes Beier. In recent years he has exhibited regularly, in South Tyrol and beyond. Running through all of this is one common thread: to make colour and its vibration visible and tangible. As a human-ecological colour consultant, he helps people discover which colours support them, preferably with lime paint, which vibrates at the same frequency as the human being. His own colour at the moment is indigo, his inner sea: where he can dive deep, be with himself, and become truly honest.

Work description
“The Inner Glow”

Six coloured panels of resin, symbolising the human energy centres, arranged in a circular formation like a dance circle, illuminated through fibre-optic cables and fitted with motion sensors: whoever enters Bernhard Reiterer's walk-in installation The Inner Glow and moves – or begins to dance – makes the panels glow; the more movement, the more intense the light. At the end of the room, the points of light flow into a large painting depicting two figures. Biophotons are the faint light signals that every living being emits; Bernhard picks them up and translates them into colour – making visible what usually stays hidden: the vitality we radiate when we allow ourselves to resonate. The artist urges us to become more colourful again: too often we wear only shades of grey – and radiate them. His invitation: to move through the artwork and to make one's own inner glow – the light that resides within each of us – tangible and visible.

“La frequenza che sostiene è sempre presente. La domanda è solo se ci muoviamo al suo interno.”
The artist, who lives in Brixen, explores the question of what drives every human being to create something lasting. He calls this ‘microculture’. For his work ‘Philosopher’s Stone’, he has extracted a huge stone colossus from the depths of the earth and carved it.
