Mountain pine

The heart of South Tyrol is green, mountain pine green to be precise. The Villanders mountain pasture above Klausen is not only the geographical center of South Tyrol, it is also the home of the mountain pine. It is therefore no wonder that valuable essential oils have been extracted from the bristly shrubs here for many years.

Mountain pine is harvested by cutting the shrub at ground level and then it must dry in the sun for two or three weeks. With the help of water vapor, the fragrant and scented oil can be extracted. Studies show the beneficial properties of mountain pine oil: The oil not only has a pleasant scent of forest and resin, but also has an effect on blood circulation, reactivates and purifies or can alleviate rheumatic complaints and pain resulting from compromised nerves.
